Aquatic Safety is Everyone’s Concern

Summer Water Safety

Summer is almost here and that means it’s time to start thinking about the water and aquatic safety. As parents, we expect our children to listen to us about the rules of the pool: “Never swim alone, don’t play by the pool, keep away from the water without an adult”, and the list goes on.  But, are we doing our part in keeping our children safe? Are we keeping the doors and gates locked? Toys out of the pool? Not getting distracted at the beach or pool party and better yet, hiring a lifeguard to be our eyes knowing that we will become distracted despite our best intentions! Trying to keep them safe by teaching them the rules is not the same as teaching them to swim in order to be safe. That’s our business!

Swimming is a Skill Children Can’t Live Without

Steve & Jennifer Nelson

We have over 65 years of swim instruction experience collectively and 20 years as American Red Cross Instructors in Water Safety, First Aid, CPR, and Life guarding. Our experience includes 15 years of competitive swimming, 4 years of coaching, 4 years as a Water Safety Survival Instructor in the U.S. Marine Corps, 3 years with the Detroit P.D. & L.A.P.D. Search and Rescue Dive Teams, 20 years as a P.A.D.I. Dive Master and 35 years as Owners/Operators of Aquatic Safety Inc. We are proud parents of 3 beautiful daughters who have all been highly competitive life long club swimmers. The oldest is a graduated Collegiate Triathlete and RN like her mother. Our middle one a graduated Collegiate Division 1 Swimming Scholarship recipient and experienced cosmetologist. Our youngest daughter is a SoCal CIF D5 Water Polo Player of the Year and most recently the recipient of a full ride scholarship to Azusa Pacific University.  Along with teaching water safety and swimming lessons, Steve has been a full time Police Officer for 22 years and Jennifer a full time Registered nurse for 20.

Aquatic Safety Inc

We are Corona’s longest running Private Swim School.  For 25 years thousands of families from Corona, Riverside, Norco, Chino Hills, Lake Elsinore, Orange County and more have trusted us to teach their children how to swim.  We started out over 35 years ago teaching learn-to-swim lessons in Michigan and have grown locally from a few small private lessons to over 10,000 student lessons per summer.  We teach in our own, purpose built, 30’ x 50’ 13 foot deep heated pool.

All of this growth was accomplished in the most rewarding way; Customer Referrals!  With no advertising, our growth is a direct result of our success in teaching your children to swim.  We firmly believe that children cannot be safe around the water without learning water safety as well as actually learning to swim.  There are no shortcuts.  Join us and see why you shouldn’t trust your children’s safety to anyone else.

Quality Instruction

Although our business has grown, we have not lost sight of the fundamentals that brought us that success.  Semi-Private class sizes give your children more attention and swim time than other programs.  Warm water provides a comfortable learning environment that promotes relaxation, a key element in floating & swimming.  An organized approach to teaching breaks down the act of swimming into smaller, easy to attain goals that build upon each other and instill confidence.  With our owners also being your teachers, you know we are committed to you and your child.  We consistently have a higher success rate because we have a vested interest in your child’s abilities, safety and enjoyment.  Intuitive teaching means your child will never be stuck in a “class level” waiting for them to mature enough to miraculously obtain all the skills necessary to be "checked off" before moving on to the next level to hopefully learn something new. Our families not only happily return to us year after year, but pay us the highest compliment by referring their friends as well. In addition, we have welcomed back several of our original swimmers who learned from us years ago and have since had children of their own and brought them back to us for lessons. This past summer, we even employed one of our prior students as an Instructor.

We offer quality swim instruction for all ages and abilities; from six months to the adult non-swimmer.  Our basic learn-to-swim lessons are semi-private with 2-3 students.  Parent Tot, Stroke Clinic & Pre-Swim Team may have 4-6 students.  All classes are 30 minutes long with Stroke Clinic’s going for 45 minutes and Pre-Swim Team lasting for an hour. 1 or 2 person Private Swim Lessons are always available.  We also offer special classes upon request for Adaptive Aquatics, Special Needs Lessons, Boy Scout Merit Badges, Open Water Swimming Orientation, Snorkeling, Beginning and Advanced Triathlete assistance or any other water related needs and will happily provide you a trained & certified, experienced Red Cross lifeguard for your next beach or pool party. Our lessons instill the importance of learning to swim along with an element of water safety knowledge combined with your child’s need to have a fun, upbeat and challenging learning environment.

PARKING

With lessons running every half hour, being courteous while parking is very important to us.  Please pull all the way forward in either one of our 2 driveways, making room for others to park behind you and/or next to you as they are wide enough for side by side parking.  There is no parking allowed in front of our neighbors mailboxes, so please don’t force us to ask you to go move your car.
